Head Varsity Coach
Mike Gambrill

Mike enters his first season as the Head Coach at Myers Park. Since his graduation from Pfeiffer University in 1997, Coach Gambrill has worked with the varsity lacrosse programs at Providence Day School and in 2004 was an assistant at Charlotte Latin School. After exploring several high school lacrosse positions in 2005, Coach Gambrill decided to turn his expertise to the middle school ranks demonstrating the importance of teaching younger players in the area. Coach Gambrill just completed his third season as the head coach of the vaunted South Charlotte Cyclones. Under Coach Gambrill's guidance the South Charlotte Cyclones have become the best middle school lacrosse team in the South. In two seasons they are undefeated against middle school competition in NC, GA & Tennessee with only four losses in two seasons (two at the hands of JV teams and two against Baltimore teams). A four year starter at close defense for Division II Pfeiffer University, Coach Gambrill was named all-conference in 1997, team captain in his junior and senior seasons and lead Pfeiffer to conference championships in 1996 & 1997. As a high school player in New Jersey, Mike was selected to play in the prestigious North South All Star Game.
A native of Flemington, New Jersey, Gambrill now resides in Charlotte with his wife Melissa. Varsity Assistant
Jason Carey

Jason Carey continues his participation with Myers Park Lacrosse for a second year, moving from JV Assistant to Varsity Defensive Coordinator/Assistant. In the 2007 season he helped the JV Mustangs achieve a winning record, the first JV winning spread in years.
Prior to Myers Park, Coach Carey assisted the stickwithus.org organization in various capacities with MYL, Tomahawks, Lumberjack, Polar Bear, Team Charlotte and Copperhead Camp. A native of the Washington DC area, he coached multiple seasons for his alma mater and nationally ranked Robinson High School in Fairfax, VA, as well as a single season for Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC. In addition, he volunteered for a season with the Davidson College Women's Lacrosse team in Davidson, NC.
Coach Carey started his playing career at Robinson HS as a middie, then moving to longstick midfield his Junior year. He earned two letters in his three seasons and contributed to a Northern Virginia State Championship in 1989. During his collegiate career at The Ohio State University, he served as a defender on the Men's Varsity Lacrosse squad, lettering three of his four years.
Currently he works at Wachovia Bank and resides in the SouthPark area of Charlotte, NC with his wife, Rita, and daughter, Holly.
Varsity Assistant
Mike Murphy

Mike Murphy comes from a family of lacrosse players. His father, two brothers and a sister all played college lacrosse and have coached on the collegiate, high school and middle school level. Most recently Mike was the Asst. Head Coach at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. from 1999-2001. During his time coaching, Mike played for Great Atlantic Lacrosse Club and travelled to England twice to play against their National Team. As a collegiate player he was a four year starter and 3year Captain for Catawba College from 1995-1998. As a sophomore, he was name first team all conference as a defender. Due to team injuries, for his Jr and Sr years Mike switched positions and played attack, setting the team scoring record his junior year. After graduation, he joined the staff at Catawba. Prior to college, Mike played high school lacrosse in Maryland and made 2nd team all county as a Senior. Mike resides in Charlotte, currently works for Wachovia Securities and for the first time in several years will have the time to give back to the sport of lacrosse

Tim Dobs

Coach Dobs is in his first season with Myers Park. Dobs joins the Mustang staff after a successful tenure at Butler High School where he was named the CHSCLC Coach of the year in 2005. Coach Dobs has coached at the collegiate level as well. He was the Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach at SUNY Cobleskill from 2001-2004. He was named the Mountain Valley Conference Co-Coach of the Year in 2001. An Upstate New York native, Dobs played his H.S. lacrosse at Chenango Forks High in Binghamton, and continued his playing career at SUNY Utica/Rome where he is the All-Time Leading Scorer. Dobs currently lives in Charlotte and is in the telecommunications field.

Blake Skinner

Blake is entering his first year with Myers Park Lacrosse. Before moving to Charlotte, Blake was the Head Coach at East Cobb Middle School in Atlanta, GA. In 2006, he graduated from Roanoke College in Salem, VA where he played defense and long pole middy for the varsity program before taking the role of President/Player Coach of the College’s Club Program. For high school, Blake attended the Episcopal School of Dallas (TX). In 2002 he was selected as an All State Defenseman while helping his team to Texas State Championship. He currently lives in the Eastover area and works for the Carolina Panthers.
